Comhrá, Craic agus J.R.R. Tolkien!

All-New Meetup in Silver Spring

This coming Thursday sees the launch of a new Meetup group in Silver Spring! Whether you are just beginning or have been studying the Irish language for years, join us at McGinty’s Pub on Thursday, July 10th at 6:30pm! All levels are welcome for the ‘comhrá agus craic’ (conversation and fun).

For our first Meetup session we will be taking a look at a pop culture article from Nós magazine. Nós is one of the leading magazines in the Irish language. The article examines the possible influence of the Irish language, landscape and land on J.R.R. Tolkien when he wrote ‘The Lord of the Rings’. There’s more than one controversial statement in the article, so expect plenty of discussion! You can check out the article now by clicking here.

If you are new to the Irish language, do not fret as we will have a beginner’s sheet ready to help orient you. To register, please go to our Meetup page. Hope to see you on Thursday!
