2016 – Let’s Celebrate!

Fáilte chuig 2016!

Ireland2016The year 2016 marks a highly significant anniversary for Ireland and her culture. What began as a small uprising in the centre of Dublin 100 years ago at Easter 1916 set in motion a series of developments which ultimately led to Irish independence. The 1916 Rising is seen as the moment when Irish nationalism joined forces with a revolutionary, cultural and language movement to forge an irresistible movement towards self-determination…

We will be marking the 1916 Rising here in Washington DC with a range of Irish language events…but more on that later! For now, we would like to extend a ‘fáilte mhór!‘ (big welcome) to our new cohort of Introductory students who started their 8-week course with Múinteoir Elaine last night.
