Nollaig Shona & Athbhliain Faoi Shéan & Faoi Mhaise Daoibh!
Ag druidim i dtreo dheireadh na bliana, teastaíonn uainn ár mbuíochas a ghabháil le gach duine a chuidigh linn i rith 2016. Bliain ar leith a bhí ann do Let’s Learn Irish! agus an comhphobal Gaelach. Arís i mbliana bhí trí leibhéal ranganna (Bunleibhéal, Meánrang agus Ardrang) faoi stiúir in Washington DC chomh maith le go leor imeachtaí eile.
Ina measc na n-imeachtaí éagsúla bhí ceardlanna saor in aisce againn, le topaicí ar nós Éirí Amach na Cásca 1916, An Gorta Mór, Maslaí, Oíche Shamhna, Béarlagair sa Ghaeilge agus Toghchán 2016! Chríochnaigh muid an bhliain an tseachtain seo caite lenár gceardlann ‘Amhráin as Gaeilge’ agus cóisir na Nollag den scoth! Chomh maith, chomhoibrigh muid le heagraíochtaí sa phríomhcathair ar nós Ambasáid na hÉireann, Irish Network DC agus Solas Nua chun an Ghaeilge a roinnt agus a chur chun cinn sa phobal. Agus ní féidir dearmad a dhéanamh gur thosaigh beirt mhúinteoirí nua linn!
Ní tharlódh na nithe thuasluaite gan an tacaíocht a fuair muid uait féin agus ó dhaoine eile ar fud na cruinne a bhfuil spéis acu sa Ghaeilge. Gabhaimid buíochas ó chroí libh as an tacaíocht seo, agus tá súil againn go leanfaidh muid ar aghaidh sa bhliain úr le neart imeachtaí breátha Gaelacha ar siúl go háitiúil agus go h-idirnáisiúnta, ar an talamh agus ar an idirlíon!
We are planning many more Irish language classes and fun events in 2017 – bígí linn! Make 2017 a time to discover, develop, and delight in your Irish heritage, and join us for a class or event. We look forward to meeting new and old friends in 2017!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
As the year draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped us in 2016. This has been a very special year for Let’s Learn Irish and our community of Irish speakers. In addition to running three levels of Irish classes (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) in Washington DC, we hosted a number of free events for students and those new to the Irish language.
Among the various events were free workshops on subjects such as Easter Rising 1916, The Great Hunger, Insults, Hallowe’en, Irish language Slang, Election 2016 and more! We ended the year with a packed house for our Songs in Irish and End of Year party last week! We continued to collaborate with the Irish Embassy and Irish Network DC, and also had the pleasure to work with Solas Nua to prepare their actors to speak some Irish phrases in their spring production. Lastly, we cannot forget that we added two new, awesome teachers and Irish language ambassadors to our team!
None of this would have been possible without the support of our students here in Washington DC and online around the world. As a thank you for your help and support throughout the year, we have a few special opportunities coming up for students in the new year! With your support we will continue to offer local Irish language classes, add to our list of free community events, and provide additional online resources – feicfidh muid sibh in 2017!
New classes begin in early January, and Early Bird registration ends soon! Contact us for a special discount if you would like to make learning Irish your fun New Year’s resolution or start attending classes with a friend!
