Christmas Song Workshop

Bígí ag Canadh!

Come along to Amhráin na Nollag 2017 this Sunday in Friendship Heights, 2 – 4pm! We had such fun at our Christmas Song Workshop last year that we just had to do it all again in 2017…but with even more festive carols this time! Thankfully, the renowned Liam Ó Caiside is returning to us, armed with another big sack full of Irish language Christmas classics!

As you know, singing is a wonderful way to learn a language, and helps with memorising and consolidating vocabulary, pronunciation, language patterns and listening skills…and it’s great craic too! We have a booklet ready with lots of Irish language carols that we’re excited to teach you. After all the singing, as per tradition, Amhráin na Nollag 2017 will be followed by a festive Cóisir na Nollag to celebrate another busy year of ‘Gaeilge’ in the nation’s capital! Beidh seans maith agat comhrá le daoine agus do chuid Gaeilge a chleachtadh.

Please reply to this email if you will attend, and we will have a song booklet and refreshments ready for you on Sunday. Don’t worry if you don’t speak Irish – we will guide you through the songs. Hope to see you there at 2pm – ag súil go mbeidh tú linn!

Heads up – 2018 classes are now posted online. For new and old students, Early Bird rates last until Jan 1st. And why not give the gift of Irish this Christmas? The next 8-week Introductory Irish begins Tues, Jan 9th, followed by Ard Rang classes on Wed, Jan 10th and a new Meánrang on Thurs, Jan 11th. You can read more and register for the class that’s best for you here.

Also, you might like to mark in your diary that on Monday, Jan 8th we are holding an Oíche Eolais 2018 (Information Night). We’ll be explaining our Irish language plans and projects for 2018 (Bliain na Gaeilge, the Year of Irish), including upcoming TEG courses, Féile na Gaeilge 2018 (a week-long Irish language festival in the capital) and other exciting new innovations at Let’s Learn Irish!

Before all that, however, there’s the holiday season to enjoy! See below for an example of what we’ll be singing at Sunday’s Amhráin na Nollag 2017 workshop. Hope you can join us – bígí linn!
