Washington DC's Irish Language Festival

Tá Féile na Gaeilge ar ais arís i mbliana! Ag leanúint imeachtaí 2017, beidh Féile na Gaeilge 2018 ar siúl 1 – 6 Aibreán in Washington DC. Arís, beidh réimse leathan de cheardlanna agus imeachtaí difriúla ar siúl do gach leibhéal sa chathair, agus i mbliana beidh béim faoi leith ar theicneolaíocht an oideachais i rith na seachtaine!

Féile na Gaeilge is back again this year! Following on from 2017’s festivalFéile na Gaeilge 2018 will run April 1 – 6th in Washington DC. Again, there will be a wide range of workshops and events in the city, and this year there will be a special emphasis on educational technology over the course of the week!

All events are free to attend and you can register now by clicking on the event links. For further updates, please join our mailing list and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and #FeilenaGaeilge. Please note that on the first morning of the festival, Easter Sunday (Apr 1st), we are running a short Introductory Irish Course (11am – 4pm) for anyone who would like to pick up the basics.

Clár Ama na Féile 2018/Schedule:

Sun 1st: Ceardlann Amhránaíochta na Cásca (Easter Song Workshop)
Áit: Chevy Chase Pavilion, Friendship Heights, DC. 5:00 – 6:30pm.
Following on from our very successful Christmas event, Liam Ó Casaide is back with another much-anticipated workshop in Irish song, this time on Easter Sunday! We will be covering a range of old classics and newer songs, followed by refreshments and a chance to chat with fellow language learners and teachers. We’ll also be taking names of anyone interested in participating in our Christmas Choir for later in the year. Early registration advised.

Mon 2nd: Naughty Irish Night
Áit: Chevy Chase Pavilion, Friendship Heights, DC. 7 – 8:30pm.
Curses, insults or making out, we got you covered! 18+ only, not for the faint-hearted 😉

Tues 3rd: Oíche na Mac Léinn (Student Night)
Áit: Chevy Chase Pavilion, Friendship Heights, DC. 7 – 8:30pm.
Beidh cur i láthair ó na mic léinn atá ag freastal ar ranganna i rith na bliana.
Student presentations on topics of their choice, followed by individual mock oral exams for TEG A1 participants.

Wed 4th: Tóraíocht Taisce (Treasure Hunt)
Áit: Downtown DC – TBA. 6 – 7:30pm.
Bring your smartphone and join us as we take pics, post videos, answer questions and explore ‘as Gaeilge’ in downtown Washington DC !

Thur 5th: Oíche Scannáin (Movie Night)
Áit: Chevy Chase Pavilion, Friendship Heights, DC. 7 – 8:30pm.
An Irish language movie suitable for all age groups (with English subtitles) will be screened. Refreshments served.

Fri 6th: PopUp Gaeltacht!
Áit: Hoban’s, Dupont Circle, DC. 6:30 – 8pm.
We finish off our festival week with a social event in the centre of the city! The aim of the Pop Up Gaeltacht is to give Irish speakers and friends of the language an opportunity to share a few drinks and speak the language. Fáilte roimh chách!
