New Classes & EU Open Day!

A chairde, ‘míle buíochas’ to everyone who came out and participated during the week-long Féile na Gaeilge 2018, our annual celebration of Irish language activities in Washington DC! It was a festival of language learning through a wide range of events, all designed to get people living and communicating ‘as Gaeilge’ inside and outside of class time.

We started the week with a full class of beginners in the 1-Day Irish Intensive, and we ended the week with our biggest Pop Up Gaeltacht yet! In between these two events students seemed to really enjoy the Naughty Irish Night and Oíche Scannán, and there was also a fantastic response to our Oíche na Mac Léinn (Student Night) and the Tóraíocht Taisce (Scavenger Hunt in the National Portrait Gallery). You’ll find many pics on our various social media pages… táímid ag súil leis an gcéad bhliain eile / we’re already looking forward to next year’s events!

Our Online Survey – enter to win a free prize!

A sincere ‘go raibh maith agaibh‘ to everyone so far who participated in our online survey. This research revolves around the use of technology to support Irish language learners, whether based in Washington DC or not. How can we grow this community of learners in-person and online? What would you like to see us offer to help you learn Irish? What are your ideas?

If you got 5 minutes to spare, then please click the link below and join the discussion! The survey will run for the month of April, and we’re giving away a free prize to one lucky participant! Share the link too – we would love as much input as possible from Irish language learners around the world.

New Classes
This week we’re on a break, but A1 and A2 courses restart next week!

A2 classes begin on Wed, Apr 25th. This course is for anyone aiming to take the full A2 exam next year.

A1 classes restart on Thurs, Apr 26th. This course is suitable for students who have been attending the A1 classes or who have previously taken the 8-week Introductory course.

Early Bird Rate runs until Apr 19th! Students who registered for the TEG exam can use their $30 coupon when signing up.

EU Open Day
EU Open Day is taking place on Saturday, May 12th. Each year EU Embassies in the USA open their doors to the public for a celebration of language, sport, music, food and more. We are again invited to promote ‘an Ghaeilge’ at the Irish Embassy, where we’ll have a table display loaded with lots of freebies and info about the Irish language!

EU Open Day is among the most enjoyable days of the year, and we’d love to have you join us! If you’re interested in being a volunteer and schmoozing at the Irish Embassy for a few hours, then please add your name to our online Volunteer Schedule, or alternatively email us with one of your preferred time slots (10am – 12pm, 12pm – 2pm, 2pm – 4pm).

Ag súil go mbeidh tú linn – we hope to see you there!
