June is Irish Grammar Month!

4-Week Irish Grammar Course

A chairde, tá ‘Mí na Gramadaí’ ag druidim linn! June is ‘Irish Grammar Month‘, and we’ll be running specialist grammar classes every Tuesday in Friendship Heights (June 5, 12, 19, 26, 7:00 – 8:15pm) for all levels.

Each week Múinteoir Elaine will be explaining an aspect of Irish grammar and working through a series of relevant examples, exercises and omactical uses. We will have a range of resources on hand so that students of all levels feel challenged and their use of Irish becomes more precise. The course curriculum will be different to the topics covered in last year’s Cúrsa Gramadaí, and promises to be especially beneficial for intermediate and advanced students. Early Bird Registration is now open until June 3rd. This year’s course topics will be:

  1. Irregular Verbs
  2. Adjectives
  3. Comparisons
  4. Word Formation: Compounds

1-Day Introductory Irish for Beginners

Class size is limited. Register here now.

8-Weeks of Irish Conversation in July and August

Beidh Rang Comhrá ar siúl againn gach Céadaoin in Friendship Heights! Each Wednesday in July and August we will be offering a weekly, structured comhrá class for all students. Múinteoirí Elaine and Quinton will again oversee this course. We had a great response to these sessions last year, as students enjoyed the opportunity to focus more on their oral and listening language. Each week the group will explore a new topic, with each class being unique and self-contained. This promises to be a great opportunity to meet new learners, develop conversation skills and keep your Irish fresh throughout the summer months! Fáilte roimh gach duine.

Dates: Wednesdays in July and August (8 weeks – July 11, 18, 25, Aug 1, 8, 15, 22, 29th). Time: 7:00 – 8:15pmNote: No class on Independence Day, July 4th. Early Bird Registration is now open until July 5th.

Cúpla rud eile:

Go raibh míle, míle maith agaibh‘ to everyone who came to EU Open Day earlier this month! It was a really fun day at the Irish Embassy and we had a great time telling all the visitors about Irish, answering questions and showing the various Irish language resources that we had on display!

Comhghairdeas leis an nGrúpa TEG! Congratulations to these 11 students who were the first group ever to sit the TEG A1 conversation exam in DC!  We are very proud of all the hard work that students and teachers put into preparing for this exam. If you’d like to sit a TEG exam in the future, then please let us know and we can help you work towards that target for May 2019!

Cór na Nollag: Plans are already underway for Washington DC’s first ever Irish choir! Plenty of early notice here, folks – we have scheduled 4 free workshops and a public performance for Nov/Dec. Be sure to register online and mark these dates in your diary now: Nov 10, 17, Dec 1, 8, 15th 2018. Bígí ag caint, bígí ag canadh!
