Irish Language Events in May!

Tá Bealtaine linn! May is here, a chairde Gael, and we have 4 fun, Irish language events coming right up!

1. EU Open Day takes place this Saturday, May 12th! Join in the party as EU Embassies in Washington DC open their doors to the public. We’ll have a table overflowing with freebies and info about the Irish language, and we would love to have you join us! If you’re free, add your name to our online Volunteer Schedule, or alternatively, contact us with one of your preferred time slots (10am – 12pm, 12pm – 2pm, 2pm – 4pm). If you can’t join the fun, then follow us – lean orainn ar an lá ar Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!

2. Want to brush up on your Irish skills? On Sunday, May 13th, we’re running a special 1-Day Intermediate Class! This small class group will be covering a variety of topics and conversing solely in Irish from 11am – 4pm. This class will particularly suit those who have previously taken the 1-Day Introductory class or who haven’t spoken Irish in a while, and would like to take the next step in their learning. You can find out more about the class topics and register here. Suggestions for additional topics to include in the day’s curriculum are also welcome – just send us an email!

3. This year’s TEG A1 Examination takes place on Saturday, May 19th at our classroom venue in Friendship Heights. By now all students sitting this exam will have been notified of the day’s schedule and details. Much credit goes to all those students taking on this challenge (and being the first group in DC to do so) and also to their teachers for all their preparation! Doors will be open from 8:45am. Come early and prep, have some snacks, and stick around for the after-party! Ádh Mór do gach duine / Good luck to all!

4. For complete beginners looking to jump-start their Irish language learning, we have a 1-Day Introductory on Sunday, May 20th!  This class will cover the basics and get you started – you’ll be able to introduce yourself and talk about family life, where you live, what you do, hobbies, tell the time and more! Class size is limited. Register here now. Who knows, perhaps next year you’ll be sitting the TEG A1 exam too!

Thanks to everyone who answered our recent online survey (and congratulations to the lucky winner of our raffle, Rick Andrews in New York!). We’ll have more udpates on our online projects and forums for your language ideas as the year progresses. However, that’s all for now, a chairde, but keep your eyes peeled on our social media for all the events in May – táimid ag súil leis na himeachtaí ar fad atá le teacht!
