A0 Introductory: Tue, 6:30pm ET

Our 7-week A0 courses are designed for beginners in Irish. Each course – Cúrsa 1, 2, 3 or 4 – can be taken independently. Together, these A0 courses develop similar communication skills through familiar themes. It is not necessary to take the A0 courses in any specific order.

We offer each of these four courses throughout the year. The themes and topics covered are as follows:

• Cúrsa 1: Mé Féin. Learn to greet people, introduce yourself, talk about your family and daily life, and have your first simple conversations. 
  
• Cúrsa 2: Mo Shaol. Build confidence using Irish by focusing on language essentials, descriptions, days of the week, the weather, my house and saying what you like and don’t like.  
  
• Cúrsa 3: Turas go hÉirinn. Use Irish in practical situations on an imagined visit to Ireland, with scenarios involving transport, cafés, shopping, social events and meeting people.
  
• Cúrsa 4: Cultúr na hÉireann. Discover more about Ireland’s Irish speaking regions, festivals, music, film, sport, places and media.
  

By the end of each course, you will be able to understand and use common Irish words and phrases, participate in short conversations with support, recognise common pronunciation patterns, and progress to the A1 course with confidence. We emphasise building language confidence and connecting your learning to activities in the online Irish community.
