When saying “Thank you”, you say “Go raibh maith agat”. The Irish for “You’re welcome” is “Tá fáilte romhat”. While these are standard ways to say “Thank you” and “You’re welcome”, you may come into contact with phrases that differ from these formations.
For example, you may hear “Go ndéana a mhaith duit” instead of “Tá fáilte romhat” or even “Sé do bheatha”, depending on the Gaeltacht and respective dialect. All of these are fine but as a beginner learner, you may wish to stick to the commonly understood forms. However, it is good to know the variants as you move forward in your Irish language journey.
