In this course we cover the following topics:
- Ag bualadh le daoine/Meeting people: Greeting someone in Irish, asking them for their name, how they are and what’s their phone number.
- Cúlra agus áit chónaithe/Background and place of residence: Discussing countries and nationalities, where you live, where you’re from and town amenities.
- An teaghlach/The family: Speaking about your household and extended family, including counting people.
- An teach agus lóistín/The house and accommodation: Talking about accommodation, rooms, furniture and counting objects.
- Caitheamh aimsire/Pastimes: Learn to speak about your pastimes and what you do regularly (the continuous present).
- An saol laethúil/Daily life: Talk about your daily life and the time of your activities, conjugate verbs (dara réimniú) and ask questions about a person’s daily routine.
- Buanna agus scileanna/Talents and skills: Discuss your talents and skills, languages, talking about Irish and asking how to say things in Irish.
- Cúrsaí Oibre/Work: What occupation do you have, where to you work, what sort of job is it, asking “How many?”
- Bia agus deoch/Food and drink: Converse about food, drink, going to a restaurant, ‘an’ and gender, and asking how much something costs.
- Sláinte agus Tinneas/Sickness and health: Talking about the body, how you feel, discussing pain, what happened, and the Past Tense.
- Éadaí agus siopadóireacht/Clothes and shopping: Learn about clothes and shopping, describing what you’re wearing, colours, adjective agreement, and emphasising adjectives as ‘too’ or ‘very’.
- Laethanta saoire/Holidays and travel: Discuss the countries you went to on vacation, ask and answer questions about holidays, when you went, where you stayed, the weather and with whom you traveled.
- Orduithe/Orders: Construct sentences that use the imperative (give commands, make requests) with one person, with a group and in relation to ‘possessed’ objects.
- Ag déanamh socruithe/Making arrangements: Learn how to check if someone is free to meet up and make plans for particular days, months, seasons…and how to say specific dates!
