Leibhéal: This 5-week Irish course, taught by Dr. Caoimhín Ó Liatháin via Zoom, will focus on useful Irish words and phrases for learners of all levels. Recommended for learners at A1+ level.

Dates: Saturday, Nov 8, 15, 22, Dec 6, 13 (5 live sessions).
Note: No live session on Nov 29th due to Thanksgiving.

Time: 1– 2:20pm ET (New York), 10 – 11:20am Los Angeles, 6 – 7:20pm Dublin.

Curriculum: 
‘Focail & Frásaí’ is a 5-week live online course focused useful Irish words and phrases. In each session we will have a new topic and a set of related words and phrases to explore. The five topics are outlined below.

Beginners will learn plenty of new vocabulary. Intermediate learners will strengthen and expand their knowledge through the many examples and grammar tips taught in context.

Seachtain 1 (Nov 8th): Ireland and America
How to talk about Ireland, America, and culture pertaining to your country. Expect to learn the proper ways to apply words such as ‘Éire’, ‘Éireannach’, ‘Meiriceá’, ‘Meiriceánach’ and many more!

Seachtain 2 (Nov 15th): Common General Phrases
Let’s look at those phrases that come up all the time, in conversation, articles and literature. Examples include ‘chomh maith’, ‘de ghnáth’, ‘ar aon nós’, srl.

Seachtain 3 (Nov 22nd): Opinions and Understanding
This week we’ll focus on how to better articulate our point of view in conversation, using phrases such as ‘sílim’, ‘ceapaim’, ‘dar liom’, ‘is dócha’, srl.

Seachtain 4 (Dec 6th): Proverbs
Seanfhocail are a wonderful way to learn Irish while also gaining insight into Irish culture! Here, we’ll delve into some of Irish’s most memorable proverbs.

Seachtain 5 (Dec 13th): Alliterative Adjectives
Learn and practise the phrases that add flavour to your Irish, such as ‘beo beathach’, ‘dubh dóite’, ‘sona sásta’, srl.
