Leibhéal: This 4-week Irish course, taught by Dr. Pádraig Ó Briain via Zoom, will focus on teaching students about the main festivals in the Irish calendar. Recommended for learners at Intermediate level.

Dates: Tuesday, Oct 14, 21 (sos), Nov 4, 11 (4 live sessions).
Note: No live session on Oct 28th.

Time: 3– 4:20pm ET (New York), 12 – 1:20pm Los Angeles, 8 – 9:20pm Dublin.

Curriculum: 
Over 4 weeks we will discuss pagan and Christian traditions associated with Lá Lúnasa (Lammas Day), Oíche Shamhna (Hallowe’en), an Nollaig (Christmas), and Lá Fhéile Bríde (St Bridget’s Day).

Each class will be devoted to vocabulary and questions associated with each festival. Animation will also be utilised to frame and inform the discussion. Join us for what promises to be a very informative and interactive course! Moltar an cúrsa seo d’fhoghlaimeoirí ar leibhéal A2, B1 agus B2.

Seachtain 1 (Oct 14th): 
We will discuss the traditions associated with Lá Lúnasa and, as this festival heralds the start of autumn, we will cover some seasonal vocab.

Seachtain 2 (Oct 21st): 
We will discuss the traditions associated with Hallowe’en and its pagan roots in the fire festival of Samhain, New Year’s Day in the Celtic calendar.

Seachtain 3 (Nov 4th): 
We will discuss Christmas traditions and winter vocab in preparation for the upcoming holidays.

Seachtain 4 (Nov 11th): 
We will discuss the traditions associated with St Bridget’s Day (or ‘Imbolg’ in the Celtic calendar) and vocab associated with spring-time.
