Learn Irish in 2023!
A chara,
Athbhliain faoi shéan agus faoi mhaise duit – Happy New Year!
Thanks for joining us for another year of language learning and resurgence! The design and development of an online Irish community is at the heart of our mission, ever since starting out in Washington DC in 2009. Rather than simply preserving or bringing Irish back, our focus is on “bringing the language forward” – finding new uses and users, new opportunities and exciting innovations for Irish language engagement.
We hope you enjoy the new options we’ve added to our schedule for January 2023, such as Gaeilge sa Bhaile (for teaching Irish at home) and Ceacht & Comhrá (simple conversation lessons). These new courses are welcome additions alongside our continuing Grammar, Writing and TEG classes.
Bí linn, más féidir – join us in the New Year, whether as a learner, mentor or múinteoir Gaeilge! New courses begin next week, and comhrá sessions resume this Thursday. See LetsLearnIrish.com for all the ways in which you can help bring the Irish language forward in 2023!

Read about fellow Irish learners
If you’ve ever wondered about your reasons for learning Irish, or how to keep going, then you might enjoy reading about the experiences of fellow learners! Eric Funston in Ohio, for example, credits family history, professional interest and pure curiosity as reasons for why he attends Irish classes each week! Jeff Justice in Texas, on the other hand, found himself in Irish classes by way of his studies in Scots Gaelic and Welsh! You can read their stories, and more, on our Articles page.
